Contents

Session 1: What's so agile about Agile?
Introducing the concepts and ideas behind agile software delivery, and how they help make development "better, faster and cheaper".

This will be a lively session and questions, skepticism and debate are encouraged!

Session 2: Agile Automation
Agile projects make heavy use of automation to provide timely feedback and to reduce delivery risk. This session looks at continuous integration, automated testing, and strategies for automating the deployment process right through to production.

Session 3: Adopting agile - "how to sell agile to your boss"
Dan has introduced agile techniques and practices to teams in a number of different environments, with varying degrees of success(!).

In this session, he talks about the issues and challenges around adopting agile practices, from the point of view of the development team, the management and the business sponsors.

Session 4a: Scaling agile - working with large, distributed tems (45 mins)
Not everyone gets to work on small, business-focused teams.

Many enterprise projects involve large teams spread across different locations, and with the growth in off-shoring and co-sourced development, different timezones.

This session discusses some techniques that ThoughtWorks has used to manage programmes of work involving 100-plus people across three timezones (UK, US and India).

Session 4b: Retrospectives (45 mins)
A retrospective creates a constructive and safe environment to look back over a period of time and understand what went well and what you would do differently.

This session presents a brief introduction to retrospectives, and we carry out a retrospective on the day itself.
